Our Wedding

Alex and Evan met at the Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive, where they shared a slice of pistachio almond olive oil cake and talked about the Iraq War, entrenched problems of local governance in the Bay Area, and the poetry of Yang Wanli. In the years since, they have spent their very best days on grassy riverbanks, fishing and laughing and rendering their forefingers and thumbs sticky with the juice of wild blackberries; experiencing the commingled terror and relief a cold thunderstorm on a scorching Wasatch afternoon; reading the books of John McPhee and Fawn Brodie aloud to one another on long drives; and searching for hints of incipient life encoded in the remains of ancient American sediment. Last fall, shortly before their engagement, Alex and Evan attended a screening at BAMPFA of Nicolas Cage cult classic film Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans, and spotted director Werner Herzog sitting at the exact table where the couple met. This is surely an auspicious sign for the union. Celebrate with us at the Brazilian Room in Berkeley, May 9th 2026.

We will be meeting at the <a href="https://maps.app.goo.gl/KWbqvnqwuRoQa1rC8" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Quarry Picnic Area</a> in Tilden around 11 for pastries and a hike for anyone who is around and wants to join.

what is the parking situation?

Limited! Take an uber or carpool if at all possible.

what is the dress code?

Formal! Here are some general guidelines for how we would like guests to dress: For Women:- Floor-length gown, very dressy midi/maxi dress, or a suit- Avoid white and ivory, or anything very light blue (just so it doesn't photograph white!) Avoid:- Anything overly casual or short- Sneakers For Men:- Suits Avoid:- Sneakers
